Day 1 – Glen Garioch and GlenDronach Discovery
Meet in Aberdeen we make our way North to spend some time at the farm distilleries of Glen Garioch and GlenDronach. These small distilleries make some stunning whiskies, proving small in stature does not mean, small in flavour or charm! Glen Garioch is a labour-intensive distillery that harks back to days of old! The 15-year old Glen Garioch is a favourite! GlenDronach produces predominantly sherry-casked whiskies which are a delight on the palate. The latest 12, 15, 18 and 21-year old expressions are proving popular with our guests! In fact, that is pretty much most of them! A special part of this tour is a late afternoon/ evening visit to the quirky, Grouse Inn. It is about 30mins drive from where we will stay but it has a phenomenal collection of whisky that any enthusiast will appreciate, and well worth a visit. Standard accommodation is included in the price. It is possible to request a higher standard of accommodation of your choice at the booking stage.
Day 2 – Glenglassaugh and Strathisla (Chivas Regal) Discovery
After breakfast, we make our way to the Moray Firth coastal village of Portsoy for a visit to the shy distillery of Glenglassaugh. Not one for shouting it’s praises it has been brought back from the dead and is now blossoming again. We will take in a “Behind the Scenes” tour. After this, we will take in some lunch. A suggestion can be the The Galley in Whitehills, it specialises in seafood including the famous chowder from the area, called Cullen Skink. Other options are available for non-seafood lovers.
We then drive back South to the town of Keith and the Strathisla Distillery, the home of Chivas, for a special blending session. You can roll up your sleeves and attempt to come up with the next Chivas Regal. A lot of fun for all! We will then make our way back to Aberdeen .
